Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Unboxing and First Impressions

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro was announced earlier in January 2023 and it marked its presence in the midrange smartphone market with a Dimensity 1080 Chipset. Here is a quick unboxing and first impressions for the phone.

Unboxing

The Xiaomi Note 12 Pro is available in four colors: Stardust Purple, Frosted Blue, Onyx Black, White. For this unboxing, we received the white variant. Despite being white, the phone actually comes in a black box. Inside the box is device itself, a translucent jelly case, a sim ejector, a 67W charging brick, and a type C connector to power the device are all included in the box along with some paperwork and the user manual.

Design

The first thing to notice is that instead of a dual rear camera setup, the phone has a triple camera setup. It has a flat boxy edges which give it the premium feel in the hand and a comfortable and ergonomic sense of design. The phone is generally light coming in at a weight of 187g with a 6.67 inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 16MP front camera in the small punch hole style.

On the back, the Redmi Note 12 Pro holds a glass back which we assume to be gorilla glass with a plastic frame. On the sides the phone has 3 buttons, that is the power button and the 2 volume rockers. At the bottom you find the SIM tray, the type C charging port, the microphone and the speaker grills. It is also still a good thing that Xiaomi still included a headphone jack even though its situated at the top which feel a little old fashioned now.

Performance

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 pro is equipped with a Mediatek Dimensity 1080 which makes it capable of running high graphics games like Mobile Legends and Call of Duty. It also has a 5000mAh battery which is enough for long gaming sessions and generally doesn’t overheat. More details for this will be discussed in the full review.

Camera

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro has a 50MP + 8MP + 2MP rear camera setup and a single 16MP fromt cameras. Overall, the images taken with this phone are impressive, quite above average, with a lot of detail, a rich depth of field and prices edges on objects in focus. The shutter speed is also very quick and snappy .

Pricing and availability

The Redmi Note 12 Pro is currently available on different websites like Giztop for $249 which is around Php 13,544 when converted as of today. This is for the 6GB/128GB variant.
