Xiaomi may soon introduce the successor to its first in-house mobile processor. According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, the company will “definitely” launch a new XRING-branded chip this year, which could be called the XRING O2.

The upcoming chipset is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process, similar to its predecessor. While the final name has not been officially confirmed, the XRING O2 is widely expected to serve as the direct successor to Xiaomi’s first custom processor.

Successor to Xiaomi’s First In-House Flagship Chip
Xiaomi introduced its first self-developed flagship SoC, the XRING O1, in 2025. The chip was also built on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process and later debuted inside the Xiaomi 15S Pro.
The processor reportedly delivered competitive benchmark scores and solid real-world performance, marking an important step in Xiaomi’s push to design its own silicon.
Xiaomi Plans a New Chip Every Year
In a recent interview with CNBC, Lu Weibing said the company plans to release a new self-developed mobile processor every year moving forward.
Most Android phone manufacturers still rely heavily on chip suppliers such as Qualcomm and MediaTek. By developing its own processors, Xiaomi aims to gain greater control over the hardware and software integration of its devices.
Chips Beyond Smartphones
Xiaomi’s silicon plans may extend beyond smartphones. Reports suggest the company intends to expand the use of its next-generation chips across a wider range of devices in its ecosystem, including tablets, wearables, and other connected hardware.
When Xiaomi first introduced the XRING O1, Lei Jun described it as a foundational step. He explained that developing self-designed chips typically takes three to four years of research and development, and the first generation was mainly meant to validate the technology rather than achieve massive shipments.
Despite that, the XRING O1 still delivered strong results. Built on Arm-based CPU and GPU architectures, the chip reportedly achieved multi-core benchmark scores above 9,000, placing it among flagship-level mobile processors.
If the XRING O2 launches this year, it would mark the next step in Xiaomi’s effort to build its own mobile silicon platform.
