Samsung has officially begun the rollout of its new One UI 8 software, based on Android 16. While the Galaxy S25 series received the update first, the majority of Galaxy devices will receive the update on a staggered schedule.
Rollout Schedule
- September 15: The initial stable update began for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in select regions.
- October: This month will see the broad release of One UI 8 for a large number of devices, including:
- Galaxy S24, S23, and S22 series.
- Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6.
- Galaxy Tab S10 series.
- Popular mid-range devices like the Galaxy A36 and A35.
- November: The update will be pushed to the following devices:
- Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5.
- Galaxy Tab S8 series.
- Other entry-level and mid-range devices.
Key Features of One UI 8
The update introduces several new features and enhancements, with a strong focus on AI.
- New AI Features: The update brings AI-powered tools such as Portrait Studio for pets and Call Captions for real-time transcription.
- Enhanced Security: Includes new security features like Knox Matrix for automatic device protection.
- Multitasking: The user interface is optimized for different form factors with new multitasking and display capabilities.
- Refined Design: The update includes a more streamlined UX with new UI animations, a redesigned Quick Settings panel, and dynamic clock designs.
