YouTube has introduced a small but significant update for users tired of endless short-form scrolling. The platform is now rolling out a way to effectively disable YouTube Shorts on mobile devices, with the feature available on both Android and iOS.

The new option expands YouTube’s existing time management tools, which previously allowed users to limit how long they spent watching Shorts. Until now, the shortest available timer setting was 15 minutes.
With the latest update, YouTube has added a new 0-minute option to the Shorts Feed limit timer. Selecting it essentially blocks access to Shorts altogether on mobile.
Once enabled, tapping the Shorts tab in the app will show a “time limit reached” message, preventing users from entering the feed.

The setting can be found inside the YouTube app by heading to Settings > Time management > Shorts Feed limit timer.
For users looking to cut back on doomscrolling or simply clean up their YouTube experience, this may be one of the platform’s most welcome updates in a while.
