YouTube is rolling out a series of significant updates to its live-streaming platform, aimed at increasing audience engagement and creator flexibility. The new features focus on interactivity, multi-format content, and cross-platform visibility.

Audience Engagement and Reactions

Live streams now support Reactions, allowing viewers to express their real-time emotions with a range of emojis that appear directly on the screen. This feature is designed to provide immediate visual feedback to creators and make the viewing experience more interactive.
Multi-Format Streaming

Creators can now stream in both horizontal and vertical formats simultaneously with a single, unified chat room. This update ensures that live streams are optimized for both desktop and mobile viewers, making content more accessible and discoverable across the platform, including the Shorts feed.
YouTube’s New Creator Tools

In addition to the core updates, the video sharing platform is introducing several new tools for creators:
- AI-Powered Highlights: Artificial intelligence will automatically find the most compelling moments from a live stream and generate ready-to-share Shorts.
- React Live: Creators can start a vertical live stream to react in real time to other eligible live events or streams on YouTube.
- Adaptive Power Mode: A new feature to help creators with newer devices manage battery life during long streams.
