Two smartphones, likely the ZTE nubia Flip3 and Fold, are showcased against a dark, futuristic background with blue and pink neon lights. On the left, an unfolded, large-screen phone displays a vibrant, abstract wallpaper. On the right, a darker smartphone stands upright, revealing its back with a unique, rectangular triple-camera module and a red "rec" button. In the foreground, a smaller, partially folded phone is visible, displaying a white and blue abstract image on its screen. Large text at the top asks "FLIP or FOLD?". The "UNBOX DIARIES" logo is at the top right. A yellow banner at the bottom announces "ZTE nubia Flip3 and Fold design renders surface online". Social media icons and text are present at the very bottom.

ZTE nubia Flip3 and Fold design renders surface online

Leaked design renders of the nubia Flip3 and nubia Fold have appeared online, showing that ZTE is serious about its next generation of foldables. nubia is preparing two very different foldable devices: a modern clamshell flip model, and a full book-style foldable device.

nubia is placing a real bet on foldable format variety; targeting users who want the nostalgic flip form and those who want the expansive screen of a foldable.

nubia Flip3

The Flip3 render presents a large, almost full screen on the outside when the phone is folded. That outer display could make the device much more usable without opening it.

On the back, there is a dual-camera setup near the hinge. The design also shows a set of pogo pins just under the hinge, which hints at possible modular accessories, such as a mini keyboard or battery pack.

The right side of the device has physical buttons: power and volume, in conventional positions. nubia seems to offer at least two finishes: a glossy white and a more classic black.

nubia Fold

In contrast, the nubia Fold render looks like a small tablet when it opens. The inner screen appears almost square in aspect ratio, which could be ideal for both productivity and entertainment.

On its back there is a triple-camera module housed in a rectangular island, plus a flash. This suggests nubia is caring about camera flexibility for the Fold.

Interestingly the crease where the fold happens looks very minimal in the render images. That could mean nubia is working on a hinge design that keeps the inner screen flatter and more usable.

Why these leaks matter

By working on both a flip model and a book style foldable, nubia shows that it wants to compete across the foldable spectrum.

The large cover screen on the Flip3 hints at a very usable phone when closed. It might feel like a fully functional device even in a compact frame.

The pogo pins on the Flip3 could allow for smart extensions, perhaps a keyboard, extra battery or a stylus. nubia could be building for accessory-based flexibility.

With three cameras plus a flash, the Fold is not just about foldability. nubia may be taking photography seriously, looking to match or beat other foldable cameras.

These are only design renders so details like performance, battery life and build strength remain unknown. Foldable durability is a major concern for any foldable device and the actual hinge design will be crucial. If the price is too high, these models may only appeal to a niche group of foldable fans. Software optimization for a book style device will also matter a lot.
