Nokia paving their way resurrecting their glory days instead of developing overpriced smartphones with mediocre specs? Yeah, that’s the way to go.
HMD Global unveiled their newest flip phone, which is more of a featurephone than a foldable flagship. The Nokia 2780 Flip features a T9 keypad, a classic clamshell style, and no touch screens.
The phone has a 1.77″ diagonal TFT display on the outside and a 2.7″ TFT display within. One 5MP camera with fixed focus and an LED flash can also fit under the lid. The Qualcomm 215 chipset, which boasts a quad-core CPU operating at 1.3 GHz and an X5 LTE modem with top downlink rates of 150 Mbps, powers the 2780 Flip.
The phone does support real-time texting (RTT), which enables sending messages while on a call, and VoLTE.
Nokia said the phone had 512MB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM, albeit this may have been an error as a feature phone requires less capacity. Maybe, it’s the other way around (512MB RAM and 4GB of ROM).
It includes features including FM Radio, MP3 compatibility, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n support and runs KaiOS 3.1. The 1,450 mAh battery is detachable, which is extremely uncommon today.
The Nokia 2780 Flip sounds a lot like the Nokia 2760 Flip, and that’s because it is. The FM radio capabilities and the two distinct colors—Red and Blue—are the main differences. Sales will start on November 15 in the United States at a price of $90 or around Php5,290.
