WIKO T10 : Unboxing and first impressions

This WIKO T10 is an upgraded version of its namesake that arrived last June 2022 in the Philippines that only sports a 2GB RAM and 64GB storage. This version has 4GB RAM and 128 GB storage along with more exciting new features

Right out of the box , the phone looks more premium and more expensive from the first touch. The phone has a very intriguing price offer of ₱6,499.00 but with a hands on experience, it definitely feels like it should be worth more.

What’s in the box?

It is packed in a simple and straightforward white box with a picture of the T10 at the front. The box also has the Wiko branding and inside are documentations, 10W charger, USB-C cable and the phone itself. There is also a dedicated SIM ejector and a protective peel tab that protects the device.

The actual phone design

The WIKO T10 has a  textured polycarbonate back panel with a geometric pattern. Despite having only one camera, the camera module is similar to the iPhone 12 in appearance. The back panel’s texture is comparable to that used by HMD Nokia phones like the Nokia 2 series, which is excellent at resisting smudges and being durable even without a case. The phone comes in two colors, which are Midnight Black, Emerald Green which is slightly towards turquoise blue and that is the one you are looking at right now.

SIM tray and charging

The SIM tray of the WIKO T10 is located on the left side and the power and volume buttons are on the right side. At the bottom is the  headphone jack, USB-C port, and a loudspeaker. Apart from the 2019 Cherry Flare S7 and the WIKO T10, there are no other smartphone for ₱6,499.00 with a  USB-C connector.

How is the display?

The T10 has a waterdrop notch for the 5-megapixel selfie camera and a 6.5” Edgeless Dew Drop display  with a 60hz refresh rate. We found that the T10 has a far wider brightness range than some of its more expensive competitors, despite the fact that the panel used is actually standard pick for most under ₱7,000.00 cheap phones.

The colors are generally good but could have been better if the display was AMOLED. But don’t forget that this phones is really meant for tight pockets so you would have to pay more for an AMOLED display.

Camera

The T10 only has a single 13-megapixel back camera and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera, which is quite impressive for a budget phone. The phone delivers high quality images given the great performance of the imaging system. The WIKO  T10 has a  constrained dynamic range made which also makes  it difficult to balance exposure in varied situations but strives pretty well in a well lit environment.

On the other hand, the 8-megapixel selfie camera does a marginally better job of managing exposure, but you must keep in mind that 8-megapixels can only do so much. The T10 offers a basic set of camera features, including video recording at up to 1080P.

Performance

The T10 as a Mediatek MT6761 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. We applaud WIKO’s efforts to provide 128GB of internal storage at that price point. This enables to to run smoothly and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. It runs on the Android 11 Go Edition and it is important to note that the overall smoothness of the software is quite phenomenal for the price.

Battery

The phone is powered by a 5000mAh battery that is equipped with reverse charge technology which ensures a quick 18W charge. More details of the analysis will be in the full review.

The T10’s key selling point is that it uses USB-C, bigger storage and additional 2GB of RAM to make it 4. We have been loud against the use of MicroUSB in low-cost phones, therefore it is encouraging to see companies like WIKO switch to the more adaptable USB-C connector for all of its products.

Conclusion

The T10 is an interesting release from WIKO in the Philippines, and it is definitely a good entry level phone for a smaller budget. Considering how difficult it is to find a phone with USB-C, 64GB of internal storage, and an acceptable display for ₱6,499.00, the WIKO T10 is a steal.
