Google introduces Digital Well-Being to limit usage, especially at night

As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility plans, Google has made it mandatory for Android devices to include the Digital Well-being section to receive Google Play certification.

This section provides users with various tools to help them manage their digital lives, including app timers, screen time tracking, and scheduled downtime to disconnect from their devices.

In our modern world, mobile phones have become an essential part of our lives, changing how we work, communicate, and socialize. However, the excessive use of these devices can also lead to negative consequences like increased stress and anxiety.

Fortunately, Google has recognized the issue and has been actively working on initiatives to encourage more mindful and healthier use of mobile devices.

But that’s not all! Google has also introduced disconnection tools, such as the “Wind Down” feature, which gradually fades the screen to grayscale and enables Do Not Disturb mode before bedtime, helping users relax and prepare for a good night’s sleep.

In addition to these features, Google is using AI to help users manage their digital lives more effectively with their “Google Duplex” feature, which can make phone calls and book appointments on behalf of users, saving them time and reducing stress.

To further promote digital well-being, Google recently shared three tips on their blog, The Keyword. The first tip is to use devices less by reducing screen time, disconnecting from mobile devices beforehand, and creating routines to make falling asleep easier.

The second tip is to improve sleep quality by setting up sleep routines, turning off devices a few minutes before bed, and relaxing with reading. Lastly, Google advises reducing the time spent on screens and digital devices to reduce stress and anxiety caused by blue light.

Overall, Google focuses on helping users achieve a more balanced life by promoting digital well-being and providing them with the tools and resources needed to manage their digital lives more effectively.
