Super rare Apple trainers on auction starting at $50,000

A rare pair of Apple trainers, made for employees in the 1990s and given out as gifts at a conference, is being auctioned at Sotheby’s for $50,000

The shoes feature a white leather upper body and the old rainbow Apple logo. They are about three decades old and are in new condition, but they have some imperfections due to their age. The trainers are size 10.5 (US standard) and come with an alternative pair of red laces.

This is the first time that a pair of these rare Apple trainers has been auctioned to the public. Sotheby’s has described them as one of the most obscure Apple memorabilia in existence, and they could fetch a high price. However, it is also possible that they will flop on the resale circuit, as has happened with some other Apple memorabilia.

The most successful Apple memorabilia auction to date was the sale of a first edition, unopened 4GB Apple iPhone for $190,000. It remains to be seen how the rare Apple trainers will fare at the Sotheby’s auction.
