Valve’s new 6v6 shooter game “Deadlock” leaked, now in closed beta

Valve merges DOTA and Counter-Strike mechanics in Deadlock.

Many fans are confused after a new video game has spread online. The leak suggests it’s a shooter game from Valve.

Formerly called Neon Prime, Deadlock is a 6v6 action shooting game with four lanes in third-person perspective. The current state is in closed beta but already includes 19 playable heroes.

But unlike many other shooter games, Deadlock shares a lot of similarities with MOBAs, including DOTA. That means it has the usual elements, such as abilities, playstyles, and even classes like ranger, healers, and tanks.

One iconic thing it shares with DOTA is the killing of enemies and creeps to obtain “souls” – the in-game currency. Souls are needed to buy items for heroes. When an enemy or creep is killed, a soul appears and floats up.

To collect souls, shoot them but those that are already floating away can still give players a small amount. Creeps keep spawning as long as the game is active and they appear randomly on the map. A big AI boss will also appear in the middle of the map.

Although we know now that the game is going smoothly in development, we still don’t know when it will launch. Plus, the developer or publisher hasn’t revealed anything about its gaming model and inclusion of microtransactions.

But according to a report, Deadlock may launch sometime in 2025.
