There’s a new “tablet” in town, and hopefully it’s an affordable alternative to all the 2-in-1 convertibles out there. Xiaomi just announced and surprised its community with the Xiaomi Book S 12.4.

The Xiaomi Book S is a Windows-based 2-in-1 tablet designed for professionals on the go. The device runs on a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 (basically a rebranded chip from the Snapdragon 865 line) which promises to deliver speed and performance in a very compact device.
In addition to the blazing fast processor, the Xiaomi Book S comes with a 12.4” LCD screen. That’s not all – this LCD (too bad it’s not AMOLED) has a FHD+ resolution at 2500×1600 which makes this an extremely great viewing device. The Xiaomi Book S also comes with its own touch pen that will become a valuable tool for graphic designers.
Build-quality is premium as the chassis is made of aluminum-magnesium alloy. It’s one of the heavier 2-in-1’s out there, despite its presentation as portability – the device weighs around 720g. Protecting all the precious screen is Gorilla Glass 3, so minimal-to-zero scratches will frequent the front panel as a result of daily use.
