According to NordPass’s website, the password “admin” has been used over 26,000 times in the Philippines, making it the most vulnerable password among users in the country. Moreover, the study highlights Filipinos’ inclination towards using easily guessable passwords, including consecutive numbers, the word “password” and its derivatives, personal preferences, and expressions of feelings.

To enhance cybersecurity and safeguard their online accounts, Filipino internet users are strongly advised to adopt the following password practices:

  1. Create strong and unique passwords for each online account.
  2. Avoid using easily predictable information, such as names, birthdates, or common phrases, in passwords.
  3. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) whenever possible to add an extra layer of security to online accounts.
  4. Regularly update passwords and avoid reusing old passwords.
  5. Be cautious when sharing personal information online and refrain from clicking on suspicious links or attachments.
