The highly anticipated gaming handheld of ASUS aka ROG Ally will launch officially in the Philippines on July 20
ROG Ally will compete with the likes of Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch
ROG Ally is currently the most prominent portable console in the market. ASUS made it to compete with the likes of Steam Deck and the 5-year-old Nintendo Switch.
The ROG Ally is a handheld gaming device that comes with two custom AMD chips: the Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme. The Z1 version has a 6-core 12-thread Zen 4 CPU design with 4 RDNA 4 iGPUs, while the Z1 Extreme has an 8-core 16-thread combo with 12 RDNA 3 GPUs and 24MB cache.
The design of the ROG Ally is geared towards gamers, with features hall-sensing joysticks with RGB, a D-pad, 4 face buttons (Xbox layout), R1, R2, L1, and L2 buttons.
The display is a 7-inch LCD (IPS) panel with an FHD resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits max brightness, 7ms response time, 100 percent sRGB color space, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
The ROG Ally has 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB PCIe Gen 4 storage, which can be expanded through the microSD card slot (UHS-II).
The battery has a capacity of 40WHr and charges using a 65W Power Delivery adaptor. Other features include dual-firing stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and Hi-Res audio, dual fans, and copper heat pipe to keep the temperatures in check.
The ROG Ally runs Windows 11 with a special edition of ASUS Armoury Crate.
Price and availability
Right now, the ROG Ally Ryzen (Z1 Exrtreme) has an estimated SRP based on GameXtreme’s website which is around ₱49,990. ASUS’ official pricing is yet to be revealed on July 20 at 6 PM. Who knows they could be cheaper or more expensive at launch.
