Coolpad Golden Century Y60 launched: 5G, AI assistant, octa-core CPU, 5 to 7 days standby time

Coolpad teases the stunning Golden Century Y60 with Android OS and week-long battery.

Keypad phones are a thing of the past, compared to what we have today. However, some brands are bringing them back, merging retro looks with modern features.

Chinese company, Coolpad, just sampled the world with the launch of Golden Century Y60. This keypad phone is a sight to behold: a window to the past and a shimmer of the present.

It has a 3.50-inch touchscreen display and the classic nine-key numeric keypad. The front is black but the back is golden, albeit white gold visuals. It has a length of 146 millimeters, width of 61.5 mm, and thickness of 12.5 mm, and weighs 176 grams.

So, what can this thing do? It cannot go toe to toe against a smartphone but it does boasts the following:

  • Octa-core CPU, rumored Unisoc T157
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB ROM
  • 3100mAh battery
  • 5G network connectivity
  • AI voice assistant
  • Android-based CoolOS 3.0 UI
  • One-touch SOS emergency key
  • Flashlight
  • Loudspeaker
  • Voice announcement for incoming calls

According to a tweet, the 3100mAh battery can last between five and seven days from a single full charge. That’s superb considering this Coolpad Golden Century Y60 has 5G access. Most smartphones today will burn their batteries quickly when 5G is always turned on.

The price and availability of Coolpad Golden Century Y60 are not yet known. Also, it’s unclear if it will be released outside China.
