Friendster’s website is up and running. Friendster Labs seems to be cooking up something better and greater for this year.
Friendster is having a comeback! The once popular social media platform has its website up again.
If you go friendster.com, you’ll this:
It’s not exactly a fully functional website, but more like in the works.
Based on what’s described on the website, Friendster will likely have an improved experience than before, back when it was still the go-to social platform. So, we expect the people behind this rejuvenated Friendster to offer something more reliable than what’s available today.
If you didn’t know, Friendster was launched in March 2003 and it was hit globally. The platform was used for social connections, where you connect to a friend and see their connections and get the chance to meet more people within those connections. It wasn’t that different from what we have today.
Besides friend connections, Friendster also became a haven for dating and discovering new things, such as events and hobbies. Countless friendly and romantic relationships started, ended, and lasted on this platform.
But when Facebook boomed, Friendster’s user count declined dramatically. The site turned into a social gaming platform beginning June 2011 and removed its user social network accounts. However, Friendster accounts were not deleted.
In June 2015, Friendster stopped all of its services indefinitely until it was permanently shut down in June 2018.
The revival of Friendster started around October last year, with that same entry box for early access. We still don’t know when it will launch officially, but if everything goes well, numerous former Friendster users of its golden era will surely want to experience the platform again.
