Globe prepaid eSIM will be available by the end of September

In accordance with its planned schedule, the prominent local telecommunications company, Globe, has officially declared today that its fully digital prepaid eSIM service will be accessible by the end of September.

Globe’s Prepaid eSIM!

Previously exclusive to its postpaid customers, Globe is about to provide its prepaid subscribers with the opportunity to utilize eSIMs.

Globe clarifies that this service simplifies the process of obtaining and handling physical SIM cards, where the activation and management of mobile services become as straightforward as a few taps on a screen.

To obtain the eSIM, customers can make a request and purchase it through the GlobeOne app.

In essence, users will need to:

  1. Download the free GlobeOne app
  2. Set up a GlobeOne account
  3. Request a new eSIM

With this digital-only service, Globe customers will no longer need to visit physical stores or wait for physical SIM card deliveries.

“At Globe, we are always forward-thinking, anticipating the evolving needs of our customers in a digital landscape. The prepaid eSIM embodies our vision of a seamless, digital-first mobile experience, combining innovation with convenience,” stated Darius Delgado, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business.

Additional benefits of eSIMs include:

  • Enabling users to install multiple eSIMs on compatible devices, allowing them to use two phone numbers simultaneously.
  • Compatibility with devices beyond smartphones, such as smartwatches, offering a seamless connection under a single mobile number. (This technology is currently available for Apple Watch cellular models)
  • Contributing positively to the environment by eliminating the production of plastic and logistics associated with physical SIM cards, thereby reducing associated carbon emissions.

It is important to note that eSIMs may not be compatible with all types of smartphones, so it is advisable to confirm that your device is eSIM-ready before proceeding.
