For the first time, all Google Pixel 8 models will have the same refresh rate!
Google’s own Android phone offering, Pixel, has three models starting with Pixel 6: a Pro, a base, and an “a” version.
On the Pixel 7 series, both Pixel 7 and Pixel 7a are stuck at a 90Hz refresh rate, which is a bummer. But this year, Google may have decided to unify it on the Pixel 8 models, including Pixel 8a at 120Hz, reports suggest.
Google is equipping all three models with Tensor G3, so there’s enough more processing power to support that refresh rate. Plus, the screen of Pixel 8a will feature 1400 nits of peak HDR brightness.
As for the design, Pixel 8a will have similar elements with Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. DisplayPort output support is included on Pixel 8a but its camera system is the exact one from Pixel 7a.
Here’s a comparison of the displays between select Pixel phones:
Display Specs | Pixel 7a | Pixel 8a | Pixel 8 |
Size | 6.1 inches | 6.1 inches | 6.2 inches |

But the real deal in Pixel 8’s upcoming launch is the wider availability of Pixel 8a. It’s reportedly set for an official rollout in the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
For the price, Pixel 8a is speculated to be slightly more expensive than Pixel 7a.
