Huawei is reportedly bringing back the pill-shaped punch hole design for its Mate 60 series smartphones. This design was first seen in the Mate 40 and P40 lineups in 2020, and it will be the first time that Huawei has used a centrally positioned dual selfie camera design
The pill-shaped punch hole design has also been used by Apple in the iPhone 14 Pro series. This design allows Huawei to fit two cameras and a 3D ToF sensor in the front-facing camera housing, while still keeping the bezels relatively thin.
In addition to the new design, Huawei is also expected to introduce a software feature called Dynamic Island. This feature will allow Huawei to optimize notifications and apps around the pill-shaped cutout, making the most of the available space.
The pill-shaped punch hole design is not a new one, but it is becoming increasingly popular among smartphone manufacturers. This is because it allows manufacturers to fit more sensors in the front-facing camera housing without sacrificing screen space.
