Apple is reportedly switching to the A18 chip for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, departing from the A16 chip.
The iPhone 15 series recently launched, but leaks are already hinting at the next models. Analyst Jeff Pu’s report suggests that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will indeed feature the A18 chip. These claims gain credibility with repetition. The chips will be manufactured using TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, N3E. The processor lineup for the iPhone 16 family is as follows:
- iPhone 16: A18 chip (N3E)
- iPhone 16 Plus: A18 chip (N3E)
- iPhone 16 Pro: A18 Pro chip (N3E)
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: A18 Pro chip (N3E)
This transition implies a potential performance gap between standard 15 and 16 models, but Apple may still differentiate Pro models with A18 and A18 Pro branding. Time will reveal the accuracy of these claims.
