In 2025, SanDisk will launch the first 4TB SD card for high-resolution pics and 8K vids.
SanDisk will reach a new milestone next year if everything goes smoothly. The company is gearing up for the world’s first-ever 4TB SD card. This should let aspiring photographers and videographers alike to capture high-quality pics and record 8K videos on their professional cameras.
The new SD card is called the SanDisk Extreme PRO SDUC UHS-1 memory card. The UHS-1 stands for Ultra High Speed-1 interface and it translates to a 104 megabyte per second (MB/s) of transfer rate, crucial for photographers.
The new memory card also meets the Video Speed Class V30 or having write speeds of 30MB/s – good for 8K videos.
So, how much will this new SD card cost you? SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I with 1TB capacity costs around USD 140 on Amazon, which is around nearly 8K in PHP. You can expect the 4TB version to be several hundred dollars more expensive.
Besides that mega SD card, Western Digital will also offer the 2TB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-1 memory card and the 2TB SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC, the world’s first and fastest 2TB UHS-1 microSD card.
The upcoming SD card still can’t compete against solid state drives in terms of pure speed, however. A SATA III SSD can peak at 550MB/s.
