Leaked details suggest MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9400 processor could be a game-changer. A reliable source, Digital Chat Station (DCS), claims it might outperform rivals in instructions per clock (IPC) – a key metric for processing power.
DCS reinforces earlier rumors of a close collaboration between MediaTek and ARM on the Dimensity 9400. This chip is said to utilize ARM’s latest CPU architecture, codenamed “BlackHawk.” Notably, Qualcomm is taking a different approach with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, utilizing Nuvia-designed CPU cores instead of their usual ARM designs.
The most exciting leak suggests the Dimensity 9400’s Cortex-X5 core might boast superior IPC performance compared to both Qualcomm’s Nuvia cores and Apple’s A17 Pro core found in the iPhone 15 Pro. However, concrete figures to support this claim are currently missing.
If true, exceeding Qualcomm’s Nuvia cores in IPC could translate to a significant performance leap for the Dimensity 9400.
