vivo’s upcoming X100s phone might be the first to sport the all-new MediaTek Dimensity 9300+, as rumors suggested. MediaTek officially confirmed the unveiling of the 9300+ for May 7th (next Tuesday), highlighting its focus on AI capabilities with the theme “AI for Everything.”
This new chip boasts a slightly higher CPU clock speed compared to the base 9300. The prime Cortex-X4 core now runs at 3.4GHz (up from 3.25GHz), potentially offering a performance boost. AI performance is also expected to be a major selling point, aligning with the conference theme and leaks suggesting the vivo X100s will utilize this strength for innovative features.
While details are scarce, the 9300+ likely builds upon the existing “APU” (AI Processing Unit) found in the 9300 for enhanced AI processing.
Last year’s conference unveiled the Dimensity 9200+, which saw adoption by major brands like vivo, Oppo, and Xiaomi. It primarily featured a GPU overclock compared to the 9200.
Looking ahead, MediaTek is reportedly finalizing its next-gen flagship, the Dimensity 9400, expected later this year. Leaks suggest a jump to a 3nm TSMC fabrication process and a switch to the Cortex-X5 core for the prime position. Early benchmarks hint at potential multi-core performance leadership against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, with improved AI capabilities remaining a focus.
