OPPO, after making its ambitions public a while back, has apparently finalized a date for its chipset launch. This is probably a move in response to Apple and Google’s success with their own chipsets.
OPPO will likely release their processor sometime in 2024 according to industry insiders cited by GSMArena. According to reports, the company has already finished taping its processor and is simply awaiting the manufacturing process. (Taping means laying out the chip’s design)
Back in 2021, industry sources revealed that the smartphone maker had ambitions to create its own processor. OPPO was not sure about their plans for the semiconductors. Sadly, the present is the same. No one is certain how the chipset will function in a real device, even though 2024 is a more certain release date.
The report merely states that it will stick to the 4nm architecture. Furthermore, TSMC will produce the chipset but OPPO and other companies will also contribute in the process.
Currently, businesses are focusing on creating their own SoCs. With the Pixel series, Google has found success selling its own chipsets. Similar to how Apple is successful using their own silicon.
