Xiaomi’s budget phone line, POCO, appears to be getting a refresh. The successor to the POCO C51, which launched in April 2023, has been spotted on the Google Play Console. This leak from the Google Play Console hints that the POCO C61 might be announced very soon.
The listing offers some early insights into the C61’s potential features. One key takeaway is that the phone will run the latest Android 14 operating system out of the box. This ensures a smooth and up-to-date software experience for users. Under the hood, the leak suggests the C61 might utilize the same MediaTek Helio G36 processor that powered its predecessor, the POCO C51.
While the processor might remain unchanged, there’s still a chance for improvements in other areas of the phone. RAM capacity also seems to be sticking with 4GB, similar to the C51. The display, however, shows a slight improvement. The C61 is rumored to boast a 720×1650 resolution LCD screen, offering a bit more vertical pixels compared to its predecessor.
The leak doesn’t reveal everything about the POCO C61. A separate Bluetooth certification suggests the C61 might actually be a rebranded version of the Redmi A3, which launched in February 2024. However, there could be a key difference between the two phones. The POCO C61 might utilize a hole-punch design for the selfie camera, unlike the waterdrop notch found on the Redmi A3.
Many details remain unanswered for now. We don’t yet have information about the C61’s design, the camera setup beyond the rumored 8MP rear sensor, storage options, or most importantly, its price tag. Hopefully, an official announcement from POCO will soon unveil the complete picture of what the POCO C61 has to offer.
