POCO X6 Pro Full Review: Redefining midrange market with flagship experience

Elegant, sexy, and powerful, the POCO X6 Pro leveling up the standards of midrange phones starting this 2024.

Meet the POCO X6 Pro, a flagship spirit contained in a midrange body. Don’t be fooled by that facade because this is a flagship killer! This review highlights the reason why #POCO X6 Pro is worth getting this year.

Unboxing

The POCO X6 Pro comes in a black box with the iconic yellow text of the brand and series. Lifting the top cover reveals the yellow half, containing everything you need to get started with this powerful handset.

The first thing you’ll see is a small package that has the SIM ejector pin, user manual, safety information, and a black phone case. Below that is the smartphone in its full glory, covered by a plastic mesh.

A white separator hides two other important hardware. These are the USB cable and charging brick, which supports up to 67 watts of fast-charging. We recommend installing a tempered glass and using the given phone case for extra protection.

Design

The design of POCO X6 Pro keeps the iconic style of the brand. The back features the rectangular camera island where four circular bumps are placed. Three of these are camera sensors while the fourth one is the LED flash. If you take a closer look, the circular bumps are equal in size!

You’ll see the POCO logo and the “64MP OIS” text at the end of the island. The rectangular camera island has a cool gradient as well.

The right side of the phone has the volume rockers and power key. The left side, on the other hand, is clean and smooth, while the top part includes a microphone and a speaker grille. The bottom part features the USB-C port, another speaker grille, another microphone, and the card tray. There’s no 3.5-millimeter headphone jack on this device though.

By the way, POCO added a gold accent on the power button as a finisher. The back of the phone is also textured for better grip and premium feel. As a whole, the phone’s build is slim, solid, and strong at the same time.

Display

The POCO X6 Pro boasts a 6.67-inch CrystalRes Flow AMOLED display with incredibly thin bezels all around the unibody. The display panel is definitely flagship-level having excellent color accuracy, brightness, and smoothness.

The smoothness is all thanks to the 120-Hz refresh rate while the gorgeous responsiveness per tap is delivered by the instant touch sampling rate of 2160 Hz. You can enjoy every visual content on POCO X6 Pro all-day, all-night.

Even if you go on a trip, the smartphone won’t be shunned by sunlight or bright lights. The peak brightness will let you see content without an issue. The color accuracy is relatively intact at high brightness levels.

The display screen has more to offer, including:

Peak brightness1800 nits
Contrast ratio5,000,000:1

Performance

The POCO X6 Pro is a flagship killer! Powered by the four-nanometer octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra CPU and Mali-G615 GPU, expect blazing performance on every app and game you throw at it. This phone won’t surrender!

Our POCO X6 Pro comes with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. You combine that much RAM to that powerful processor, AAA mobile games will run even at high frame rates and graphics. If you’re worried about overheating, fret not because this device sports the LiquidCool Technology 2.0 to keep it cool during use.

The performance test showed an AnTuTu score of 1,274,734; no surprise why it performs incredibly well. Games we’ve played on this device weren’t a challenge and the POCO X6 Pro didn’t even heat much. It was only warm to touch which is normal for any device in use.

Gaming

Genshin Impact sets the standard on performance and we played it on POCO X6 Pro. The phone just loaded and ran the game as if it was nothing at max graphics and FPS.

Objects from afar are rendered with impressive detail as if your character was looking at them up-close. The smoothness of 60 FPS is real on this smartphone without stuttering or lags. But remember that the game requires an excellent internet connection. If the server lags, expect the game will.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is easy-peasy on POCO X6 Pro at ultra graphics and high FPS. Like fast-paced shooting games? This phone will get you that experience no matter what the title is. Call of Duty Mobile is nothing but a breeze for this device at very high graphics and max FPS.

If you’re a hardcore mobile gamer, this POCO phone is the answer! If Genshin Impact is good, games like Honkai: Star Rail, Tower of Fantasy, Diablo Immortal, CABAL Mobile, Lord of Heroes, and Black Clover M: Rise of the Wizard King will surely run too.

Camera

There are three cameras at the back and one at the front on POCO X6 Pro. The rear cameras are composed of a 64-MP primary sensor, 8-MP ultrawide sensor, and 2-MP macro lens. The front-facing camera is a 13-MP sensor.

With optical image stabilization, unforgettable moments and stunning sceneries are sharp and very detailed. This stabilization helps get rid of unwanted blur when a target is moving.

In our camera test, the POCO X6 Pro has many strong points in photography. The normal mode can capture details in most lighting, but great pics require some tricks.

HDR is very handy in getting the correct details in bright and dark areas and the great thing is, the phone can easily do HDR while zooming with minimal detail loss. The colors and shadows are not overly processed and somewhat close to what eyes can see in real life.

The Portrait mode is unnatural on POCO X6 Pro, in a good way. The blurring of the background snuggles to the main subject but not making them look comical or weird. The elements very close to the subject are not forcibly blurred, creating that more inherent appeal.

Ultrawide shots are a thing and this phone can do it. The distortion from the ultrawide mode is obvious yet not painful to look at depending on your perspective. Some details may be lost in 0.6 or 0.5 ultrawide shots but there’s a creative effect based on the angle taken. You can actually use ultrawide for artistic experimentation.

Meanwhile, the selfie camera of POCO X6 Pro captures light and details nicely, however, the default mode may not result in the desired quality. Thus, HDR mode is a must to overcome bright lights and dim-light environments.

You can also use Portrait shots on the selfie camera. But don’t do it hastily or you may end up with a slightly odd cutout. So, time your shots and be patient before pressing that shutter button in the viewfinder.

Battery

The POCO X6 Pro is equipped with a 5000-mAh battery and 67 watts fast-charging. The in-box charger already supports this charging rate to let users do more and charge less. Since the smartphone has a blazing-fast processor, it may consume more power than weaker devices.

This is why the phone comes with a variety of battery features to meet circumstances. You can enable them per situation or 24/7, it’s all up to you. There are also extreme measures available to squeeze as much juice as possible from the battery, extending its duration as it waits for the next charge.

Here are some of the battery features on POCO X6 Pro:
