Snapdragon X Elite may pioneer a breakthrough in AI and GPU experiences once it debuts in the second half of the year.
The much-anticipated new processor from Qualcomm is showing promise versus its competitor.
A YouTuber and hardware expert tested the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite against the Intel Core Ultra to see what the former offers. Erdi Özüağ tested the two SKUs on different machines for better figures. One machine is Qualcomm’s reference design while the other is a retail unit.
Özüağ’s test included a multi-dimensional approach to examine the chipset’s performance across scenarios. The specific CPU model is Snapdragon X Elite X1E80100 with 12 cores while the system has a 64GB LPDDR5x memory.
On the UL Procyon, the SD X Elite scored 1,720 points compared to the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, which only scored 476 points. The Qualcomm CPU looks ahead of its competitors in AI inference.
For the GPU, Özüağ used 3DMark for the Adreno GPU and Intel Xe-LPG, and both have close benchmarking results.
However, Qualcomm was at an advantage over its counterpart on Visual Studio Code, where the Snapdragon X Elite took a shorter time in compiling the same code.
While these results are amazing, benchmarking is different from real-world usage. Still, Qualcomm’s entry on the laptop market looks reassuring, particularly on AI, which many manufacturers and software developers are now focusing on.
That AI potential may just put Qualcomm at the forefront in consumer-based apps and even gaming.
But what do you think? Are you confident in a Qualcomm-powered laptop?
