Rear Camera Shots

It’s time for the captures done by the realme 12 Pro+ 5G! The first set is the HDR and in-sensor zoom of the rear camera.

On realme 12 Pro+ 5G, no HDR mode means everything looks natural but no particular subject on the frame stands out. If you want something to stand out under bright lights, turn on the HDR to balance the colors and other details.

The in-sensor zoom on the realme 12 Pro+ 5G is impressive. Colors are not overprocessed while whites and blacks are sufficiently rendered. When you zoom in, such as the face or fingernails, you can see the details. Plus, there’s no obvious noise.

You may find a bit of blur in the background but that’s because the focus is on the subject of the frame. This is for emphasis to make it become the highlight of the photo.

realme 12 Pro+ 5G is made to turn you into a Portrait Master.

You can enable HDR on Portrait to balance bright and dark areas. In our Portrait capture below, the subject is greatly focused while the surrounding elements are blurred but not to the extent that you can’t make things out.

With HDR on, the subject’s dark areas, particularly the small shadows on the face, have been enhanced. Shadows aren’t bad at all times because no shadows, no perspectives. Remember, use sunlight or other lights around you to capture perfect HDR Portraits.

Next, you can make 3x and 6x Portrait shots on realme 12 Pro+ 5G. The 3x Portrait increases the blur to further emphasize the subject. Our sample below showed that it’s well done because even the person’s hair is captured nicely.

The 6x Portrait zooms into the subject and the background without losing quality. No noise and colors are good from the subject. This is a very useful zooming tool for amazing backgrounds at a distance. For instance, have the subject pose with a waterfall behind them.

Achieving great shots in low-light conditions is problematic. But for realme 12 Pro+ 5G, it’s easily achievable. We intentionally reduced the lights and used a partially black background.

The rear cameras did a decent job in highlighting the subject’s face, hair, hair color, eyebrows, and more, without causing noise. This is a challenging scenario and realme 12 Pro+ 5G conquered the ordeal. Thus, the smartphone is certainly an excellent camera companion for night owls.

Night Mode

The ultrawide camera can do great captures as well. With good lighting, this lens can get colors and details correctly. But if you’re shooting outdoors, turn on HDR to counter excess brightness and fix color issues.

Aiming at extremely distant targets? Try the 120x zoom. This is the maximum optical range of realme 12 Pro+ 5G.

Selfie Camera Shots

The front-facing camera is hiding a few tricks under its sleeves. During our HDR and non-HDR captures, we noticed that the stills have very clear details, including color and contrast.

You don’t have to use HDR at all times because the normal mode can get the job done. Just turn it on if you’re taking a selfie with a strong light source.

We also noticed that the ultrawide shot of the selfie camera doesn’t have that ugly distortion. The image is like a wider capture of a Portrait shot, which is impressive.

Cinematic Modes

Want to create short films or more? You can with realme 12 Pro+ 5G and its plethora of camera features. Among these, we highlighted the Cinematic Portrait and three Master Portrait filters.

The Cinematic Portrait is a video recording that focuses on the subject. That subject is sharper while the background is blurred.

The Master Portrait filters are designed with moods or vibes in mind. It adds that critical ingredient to instill different emotions among viewers.

  • Journey: Inspired by the movie Life of Pi, this filter applies yellow tones and high contrast to mimic dream-like visuals.
  • Memory: Inspired by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, this filter applies colder tones and low saturation to give a calm vibe.
  • Maverick: Inspired by Top Gun: Maverick, this filter applies yellow-green tones, high noise, and high contrast for a retro-like vibe.

We tested these modes on the realme 12 Pro+ 5G, including the UltraSteady Mode at 60 FPS. Watch them in action below.

Final Thoughts

Good-looking and luxurious, that’s the primer of realme 12 Pro+ 5G. It has good hardware as an everyday driver and gaming, with a tanky battery to boot.

But the camera really stands out that lets you take the best Portrait images on a smartphone at this price range. Selfies are beyond social media quality, thanks to the impressive HDR and ultrawide functions.

If you’re looking for a new smartphone where beauty and style meet photography and value, realme 12 Pro+ 5G is the one for you.
