realme’s flagship smartphone has made its debut as planned. Its premium variant boasts a staggering 24GB of RAM and an incredibly swift 240W fast charging capability
The phone comes in two versions – the 150W and the 240W. The former is available with either 12/256GB or 16/512GB memory configurations, priced at CNY 3,000 or CNY 3,300, respectively. For reference, these prices equate to around $410/€380/₱23,229.78 and $450/€420/₱25,496.10.
The 240W version offers a single memory configuration with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, costing CNY 3,800, approximately $520/$480/₱29,462.16. Notably, the differing charging speeds are matched with distinct battery capacities – 5,240mAh for the 150W variant and 4,600mAh for the 240W version.
The 240W charging mechanism is particularly noteworthy; plugging in for just 80 seconds from a flat battery will bring you up to 20% charge. Meanwhile, the 150W version is no slouch either – despite its larger battery capacity, it can reach 50% charge in just 7 minutes.
Whichever iteration of the realme GT5 you choose, you’ll be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Heat dissipation is managed by a sophisticated 9-layer cooling system featuring a 20,827mm² vapor chamber.
Shifting focus to the display, it boasts a flat 6.74” AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1,240 x 2,772px and a 20:9 aspect ratio. Display attributes include 10-bit color rendering, 100% coverage of DCI-P3, a peak brightness of 1,400 nits, and a high-frequency PWM dimming at 2,160Hz. This display operates at a refresh rate of 144Hz. To alleviate the GPU’s processing load, it’s paired with an X7 display chip that performs frame insertion to enhance game FPS.
On the rear side, you’ll find a 50MP main camera based on a Sony IMX890 sensor, accompanied by a 112° ultra-wide 8MP camera and a 2MP macro module. The LED light that encircles the Snapdragon logo is also present, offering customizable illumination in 26 colors with 5 levels of brightness adjustment. The front houses a 16MP selfie camera.
In terms of connectivity, the GT5 supports dual-SIM 5G capabilities, and it’s equipped with four Wi-Fi antennas with Wi-Fi 7 support. Bluetooth capabilities include v5.3 with aptX HD, LHDC, LDAC, and LC3 audio codecs.
Additional noteworthy features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an X-axis linear motor for haptic feedback, Hi-Res Audio and Dolby certifications, and a fingerprint reader on the front with a 0.25s response time. Positioning is facilitated by 3-band GPS (L1+L2+L5).
Both versions of the realme GT5 are currently open for pre-order on realme’s Chinese store, with sales commencing on September 4. The color options include Silver with a mirror finish and Green with a matte finish.
