realme, a leading smartphone brand in the Philippines, has consistently delivered high-quality smartphones since its introduction in our country.

With realme Pad 2 as their latest tablet offering, does it have what it takes to be competitive?

Unboxing

Check out the initial look of the realme Pad 2’s packaging! Doesn’t it exude a sleek and eye-catching appearance?

On the rear, you’ll find prominent specifications, the IMEI number, and various details about the model.

Both the top and bottom sides proudly feature the realme logo, alongside its audio feature – Dolby ATMOS.

Quick Unboxing

The box consists of:

1) realme Pad 2

2) 33W SUPERVOOC charger adapter

3) Type – C Cable

4) SIM ejector tool

5) Safety/User Manual

Design

The realme Pad 2’s allure primarily stems from its striking design. It boasts a slender profile, measuring a mere 7.2mm in thickness. The rear panel, constructed of metal, showcases a dual-tone aesthetic. A matte finish covers a substantial portion of the surface, while a textured, brushed finish adorns a strip extending from the camera module.

Weighing in at 518 grams, it is quite heavy but you might only notice this weight when attempting to use it single-handedly for activities like video-watching or browsing. However, it’s a visually appealing tablet, especially in its Inspiration Green color option, certain to capture the attention of onlookers.

The tablet features quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support. They produce clear, immersive sound even at higher volume levels, enhancing the viewing experience.

Button Placements and Ports:

1) At the top of the tablet, you’ll find the Power Button, two speaker grills, and a secondary microphone.

2) Moving to the bottom, you’ll discover a USB Type-C port, accompanied by two robust speakers.

3) The left side of the Pad houses a sim slot tray.

4) On the right side of the Pad, you’ll find the Volume Rockers and the Primary Mic, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly experience.

Display

When it comes to the screen, the realme Pad 2 boasts an impressive 11.5-inch 2K (2,000 x 1,200) display that supports a silky-smooth 120Hz refresh rate. In comparison to the first realme Pad, the second generation model offers a more immersive viewing experience with slimmer bezels, enhancing the screen-to-body ratio. The colors are vivid, and the contrast levels are commendable, delivering an LCD panel’s expected quality.

This display truly shines, providing exceptional sharpness and intricate details when enjoying content from platforms like Netflix. However, it’s worth noting that the display’s outdoor brightness is somewhat lackluster at 450 nits. The standout feature here is undoubtedly the 120Hz refresh rate, which elevates the realme Pad 2’s already excellent display by ensuring seamless interactions, whether you’re navigating the user interface or using various applications. The result is a strikingly vibrant color reproduction that elevates the overall content-viewing experience.

Performance

Powering the realme Pad 2 is the Mediatek Helio G99 processor. In most usage scenarios, navigating through UI and a bit of casual gaming the Mediatek Helio G99 is no slouch, it does manage to not only keep up with great performance but also manage temperatures across the device – the G99 processor is also power efficient. The device offers two storage configurations: 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage. Both variants feature LTE connectivity and support Dynamic RAM expansion

The realme Pad 2 delivers an exceptional performance, offering the most power you can find in its price range. The combination of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage ensures a lag-free experience.

The Helio G99 processor represents a mid-range option that performs well for most games, providing an acceptable quality and refresh rate. However, it falls short when faced with more demanding titles like Genshin Impact. It’s important to temper your expectations regarding the hardware’s capability for delivering exceptional performance.

Battery

The realme Pad 2 boasts a substantial 8,360mAh battery, a significant improvement over the 7,100mAh capacity of its predecessor. It’s safe to say that the tablet’s battery life is nothing short of exceptional.

With light to moderate usage, you can easily squeeze out an impressive 3 to 4 days on a single charge. Moreover, the device’s standby time is superb, ensuring you won’t find yourself anxiously monitoring background battery drainage.

What’s more, the included 33W charger speeds up the charging process, taking just about 1 hour and 40 minutes to fully replenish the tablet’s power reserves. This marks a substantial improvement over the 18W charging speed of the previous realme Pad.

Camera

The camera setup of the realme Pad 2 offers a satisfactory experience. Primarily designed for video calls, meetings, and basic photo tasks, such as document scanning, the combination of an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera performs adequately. Below, you’ll find a few sample shots for reference:

Imaging has not been the strong selling point for budget and midrange tablets, and the Realme Pad 2 is no different. Do not expect anything more from its image quality.
