The upcoming Sony Xperia 1 VI is getting two major upgrades, but the lower-end models look stuck in tech limbo.
Sony Xperia lovers, phone enthusiasts, and tech critics are anticipating for the brand’s upcoming comeback this year. The upcoming lineup is composed of three models: Xperia 1 VI, Xperia 5 VI, and Xperia 10 VI.
Although the Xperia is a bit quiet compared to other brands, many Sony lovers and enthusiasts can’t wait to discover the features and specs of the latest series. Fortunately, leaks are here and there and hinted at two important specs.
The first leak is the alleged surfacing of Xperia 1 VI on EMVCO database, which relates to standards for seamless payment methods. The listing noted the model number “XQ-ES54” and it’s running Android 14.
No processor, display, or battery details were leaked thus far. However, camera rumors have been floating for a while.
The outstanding rumor is the triple 48MP Exmor T sensors as the main camera system. The primary lens is speculated with an aperture of f/1.4, 2x optical zoom, and dual-phase detection AF.
To compare, the Xperia 1 V features a triple Exmor camera setup but only the main lens is the Exmor T, with the rest Exmor RS.
Besides camera info, memory capacity of all three models also leaked. The flagship Xperia 1 VI is rumored with 12/16GB of RAM while the midrange Xperia 5 VI has 8GB. The entry-level Xperia 10 VI is rumored with 6/8GB of RAM.
While the Xperia 1 VI has an improved memory, the Xperia 5 VI and Xperia 10 VI have the same memory as their predecessors.
Sony didn’t join MWC this year at Barcelona. So, it’s still unclear when the company plans to announce or launch its next Xperia lineup.
