Spotify has recently unveiled a new feature known as “Jam,” which enables users to engage in real-time music sessions with their friends
Described as “a personalized, real-time listening session for your group to tune into together,” Jam combines popular social features with Spotify’s personalization technology to elevate the experience of listening to music with friends.
Premium subscribers can invite others to join their Jam sessions through a shared queue. Starting a Jam is easy, and anyone on Spotify can participate. Premium users can initiate a Jam and invite others, with Jam helping to curate the perfect playlist based on the participants’ musical preferences.
You can invite a group of friends or family, whether they are Free or Premium users, to share the experience. Premium listeners can join the Jam from anywhere.
Here’s how to use Spotify’s Jam feature:
- Tap the icon on the lower left of your device’s screen.
- Select “Start a Jam,” then click “Invite.”
- Share the QR code, send the Share link to your friends, or tap your phones together if you’re logged in to Spotify with Bluetooth enabled.
Participants in a Jam can control the music selection:
- Tap the invitation link, scan the QR code, or tap your phones together if you’re logged in to Spotify with Bluetooth enabled.
- Click “Join.”
- You can add tracks or start with Spotify’s recommendations based on the musical preferences of the Jam’s participants.
To leave a Jam:
- Tap the current device you’re using for playback.
- Choose a different device from the available devices list or tap “Leave Jam.”
Note: If the host leaves, it will end the Jam for everyone.
