With Qualcomm’s latest prized processor innovation Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 formally launched, OnePlus 11 gets first dibs on the latest offering
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is the company’s upcoming flagship processor, which it officially unveiled today. Future flagship smartphones will be powered by the recently announced processor.
It is the successor of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, as its name suggests, which was introduced last year. This time, the chipset was introduced a few weeks early, so phones with the new processor will start to appear by the end of the year.
The list of companies using the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU has already been released by Qualcomm, and now OnePlus has confirmed that it will be one of the first to release a handset using this new chipset.
The OnePlus 11 will be the company’s first smartphone and one of the first handsets to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, the company announced in a teaser poster. The company will also introduce the first open platform for mobile optical tracking, it continues.
Earlier, a 6.7-inch LTPO single punch-hole curved display for the OnePlus 11 engineering model with the codename OnePlus 11-PBH110 was found.
It has a 5,000mAh battery, a 100W rapid charging ability, and an optical fingerprint sensor. The phone features a triple camera setup on the back with resolutions of 50MP + 48MP + 32MP.
The recently introduced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 contains three 2.0GHz efficiency cores, four 2.8GHz performance cores, and one 3.2GHz primary core. The CPU is 40% more power-efficient and 35% faster than the previous generation, according to the makers.
The company claims that it can provide faster natural language processing with multi-language translation and cutting-edge AI camera features because it has the most recent Qualcomm AI Engine and upgraded Hexagon processor. Real-time hardware-accelerated ray tracing is supported, and the Unreal Engine 5 Metahumans Framework will have support that is mobile-friendly.
