Xiaomi recently sneaked in the Redmi Note 12R Pro launch in April. It was priced at around Php 14,000 and packed the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip. But guess what? The vanilla version was missing from the lineup and appeared surprisingly on the China Telecom website. And here’s the exciting part: it’s got an even better chipset under the hood.
While it’s not official yet, the phone likely has the SM4450 chip, probably the “Snapdragon 4 Gen 2” once Qualcomm reveals it. And get this. It’s allegedly built on a 4nm Samsung node, making it more advanced than its predecessor (which was based on a 6nm TSMC node).
The Redmi Note 12R offers up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Plus, there’s a microSD slot for expandable storage. The phone boasts a large 6.79-inch FHD+ display, making it slightly taller than the 12R Pro with its 6.67-inch screen. The camera setup is pretty basic, featuring a 50MP primary lens and a 2MP helper (not much improvement from the Pro model).
In terms of size and weight, it measures around 168.6 x 76.3 x 8.17mm and weighs about 199g. And hey, it’s got a hefty 5,000mAh battery inside (though we’re still waiting for details on the charging speed). And guess what? Alongside the USB-C port, Xiaomi remembered the 3.5mm headphone jack too.
- 4GB RAM + 128GB storage: CNY 1,100 (around Php 8,500)
- 6GB RAM + 128GB storage: CNY 1,200 (around Php 9,200)
- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage: CNY 1,600 (around Php 12,300)
- 8GB RAM + 256GB storage: CNY 1,800 (around Php 13,900)
And as for the aesthetics, you’ll have three color options: Midnight Black, Sky Fantasy, and Time Blue. If you want a sneak peek, China Telecom shared some images featuring the Time Blue variant.
