Unihertz Jelly Star launched: A 3-inch display smartphone with Android 13!

You’ve probably heard of Unihertz before, the brand known for its compact smartphones. They have just unveiled its latest creation: the Unihertz Jelly Star. This little device combines its petite size with some impressive features.

Unique standout feature

Running on Android 13, the Unihertz Jelly Star is touted as the smallest smartphone of its kind and aims to revolutionize the world of ultra-compact smartphones. Fun fact: it’s hitting the scene just a few months after the Unihertz Luna, which had a design similar to the Nothing Phone 1.

Design

Here’s the awe-inspiring part: Unihertz packed all these fantastic features into a small form factor. The Jelly Star measures just 95.1 x 49.6 x 18.7 mm and weighs a mere 116 grams, including the battery. That means it easily fits in your pocket! Despite its size, Unihertz remembered security. They’ve cleverly included a capacitive fingerprint scanner on the back for convenient and secure unlocking.

Display and Cameras

The Jelly Star doesn’t skimp on camera quality despite its compact size. It rocks a 48 MP rear camera to capture high-resolution photos and videos. And for those who love taking selfies or video calls, an 8 MP front camera delivers crisp and clear results. The device also features a vibrant 3-inch LCD with sharp visuals and text at 480 x 854 pixels.

Performance

Unihertz has equipped it with the powerful MediaTek Helio G99, an octa-core processor built on a 6 nm process. In tests, the Jelly Star’s performance blew away its predecessor, the Jelly 2E, thanks to this upgrade. It’s three times faster than the Jelly 2E’s Helio A22 processor. Plus, the Jelly Star boasts a whopping 8 GB of RAM, double the capacity of its predecessor. This means you’ll experience smooth multitasking and efficient app management. And with 256 GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage and a MicroSD card slot, you’ll have plenty of space for all your apps, media, and files.

Pricing and Availability

The Jelly Star is available for backing on Kickstarter, with a pledge price of around HKD1,329 (approximately Php 9,498). You can choose between two vibrant colors: blue or red. Unihertz plans to start shipping globally in October 2023, and once it hits the market, it will retail for around HKD1,675 (approximately Php 11,971).
