vivo is preparing to launch a budget smartphone, the Y36s, worldwide. This phone appears to be a slightly rebranded version of the vivo G2, which recently launched in China.
The connection between the two phones is evident on the Google Play Console listing. The Y36s uses the same model number (PD2318) as the G2. They also share identical specs, including the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 processor, 6GB of RAM, a 720×1612 HD+ display, and Android 13. Interestingly, the Vivo G2 itself is a rebranded version of the China-only vivo Y36i released in December 2023.
Following this trend, the Y36s is expected to mirror the G2’s other features. This means a 6.56-inch LCD display with a teardrop notch, offering a 90Hz refresh rate. Camera-wise, it might sport a 5MP selfie camera and a 13MP rear camera with LED flash.
Performance-wise, the Y36s could come with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of expandable storage, all powered by the Dimensity 6020 chipset. The battery is expected to be a 5,000mAh unit with 15W charging via USB-C.
Connectivity options likely include dual SIM support, 5G, 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
