OPPO A77s reveal: 90Hz refresh rate with speedy Snapdragon 680 chipset

Brace yourselves as OPPO A77s might be a potential strong candidate to be one of the best entry-phone offering from a mainstream company this year

Borrowing from its big brother, the OPPO A77 in terms of design language, it has a unique colorway in the form of Sunset Orange with a rare and exclusive fibreglass covering. The Starry Black will not have it though, and the A77s will still use a rather dated waterdrop notch design.

A 6.56-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate is what’s in store for you when you got the OPPO A77s, and with 600 nits of peak brightness, that’s real decent and can be (barely) usable in outdoor settings. OPPO uses a material for their displays they lovingly call the “Panda Glass”.

Performance-wise, it uses a Snapdragon 680 chipset with Adreno 610 GPU that’s contrary to popular belief isn’t weaker by a chance to any Snapdragon 800 Series and actually more powerful and supported in games nowadays, and by using a 6nm technology, it’s power-efficient despite clocking at around 2.4GHz for maximum efficiency.

An 8GB RAM paired with a 128GB internal storage that’s also expandable is always nice to find and the RAM can be extended up to 5GB as well for that extra oomph. A 5,000mAh standard battery with USB Type-C and 33W Fast Charger can also be enjoyed with the OPPO A77s.

A 50MP + 2MP ‘monochrome’ shooter with LED flash plus an 8MP selfie cam are equipped for this entry level offering. On the audio aspect of things, a Dual Ultra Linear Stereo Speakers with Dirac audio, the mythical 3.5mm headphone jack, and it also has a sweet IP54 rating for dust and water resistance as well, a departure from the recent OPPO outings that’s treading between downright bad and mediocre at best.

The OPPO A77s runs on ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12 out of the box. For its price, it’s around ₱14,100 when converted in Thailand baht, and is also available now in Thailand for now. No reports if this model will drop in our shores soon but stay tuned for more updates regarding this developing story.
