Honor Play 6C launched quietly in China, entry-level phone with SD 480 and 90Hz display

A budget phone, that’s what the Honor Play 6C is, with a less-than-charming SD 480 processor, how will it fare with the usual consumer?

The Honor Play 6C has a 6.517-inch IPS LCD display (in that exact size, yeah) with HD+, 720p resolution, 90Hz refresh rate. As for the processor, a 5G version of the Snapdragon 480 5G handles all the phone’s tasks. Not that great of a chipset (scoring around 233,000 points on AnTuTu V.9.4), but if they can justify a solid price point for it, hey–it’s a good entry-level offering.

As for the camera, the Honor Play 6C has a less-than-stellar 5-megapixel front-facing camera. No complains, because this is an entry level phone. As for its rear, a single 13-megapixel camera with LED flash can be found. It comes Magic UI 5.0 based on Android 12 straight out of the box. Thankfully, it has a side-facing fingerprint scanner, rather than a rear one.

As for the battery, Honor Play 6C has a standard 5,000mAh capacity with 22.5W fast charging support, which isn’t that fast anymore by today’s standards. It comes with either 6 or 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. The smartphone has other features such as dual SIM capabilities, 5G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/c, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack (thankfully).

It will come in two variants: a 6/128GB version, and an 8/128GB storage. Both models are priced at 1,099 yuan (around ₱9,700, and 1,299 yuan (around ₱10,700). You can choose between these three colors: Magic Night Black, Aurora Blue, and Titanium Silver. As for the availability and pricing here in the Philippines, there are no official news as of yet from Honor Philippines or other outlets regarding this.
