Groundbreaking 3nm SoC to be made in TSMC’s new Arizona facility

The current strongest SoC or processors right now are the ones manufactured in the 4nm process, we bet that 3nm chips will be a game changer

Morris Chang, the founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC), announced that his company is planning a $12 billion investment in a new plant in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Pheonix wafer fab complex, which currently fabricates 5nm chip designs, will be beside the plant, which will concentrate on producing 3nm chips. On December 6, TSMC is anticipated to have a ceremony to “tool in” its new facility.

For the upcoming Apple iPhone chipsets as well as Apple silicone SoCs for the iPad and Mac computers, TSMC is already rumored to provide its 3nm chips based on the N3 process. It is only anticipated that the list of potential customers will expand over time.

Although TSMC has factories in Camas, Washington, and Phoenix, Arizona, as well as design centers in Austin, Texas, and San Jose, California, the majority of its production still takes place in its native Taiwan. According to projections, TSMC held up to 70% of the market for chipset shipments in Q1 2022.
