Google Pixel 7a prototype was found on eBay ahead before the launch

With an asking price tag of around $2,500– would you rather be buying a finished version of the 7a for under $500 than splurge on a prototype?

A purported Pixel 7a prototype has now been spotted on eBay, and the listing includes images of the device in use. A Pixel 7a prototype is reportedly being sold on eBay by nikoskom-94.

The smartphone was depicted with the same design as that which has been made public by numerous reports, but there is one discrepancy: the logo. Google’s “G” logo can be found on the back of Pixel smartphones, but the logo on this prototype is more reminiscent of the Pac-Man cutout.

According to the eBay listing, nikoskom-94 tried to sell the prototype device for a whopping $5,000 (₱273,272!), but unsurprisingly, no one was interested. As a result, the cost was lowered to $2,500 (₱136,636), and then to $1,650 (₱90,179).

The device is currently back up for auction with a US$2,550 (₱139,368) starting bid, and the auction is scheduled to end on Saturday. For a device that is anticipated to retail for less than $500 (₱27,000)– this pricing is still excessive.

The Pixel 7a is expected to make its debut in May at Google I/O 2023. At the same event, the company might also present the Fold and Pixel Tablet.

The Pixel 7a will have a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, according to earlier reports. Similar to the Pixel 7 series, the Tensor G2 chipset will likely be present, along with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The phone could start the Android 13 OS on the software front.
