Motorola Edge 40 is expected to be cheaper than past Edge models

With Lenovo closing down its gaming phone division –Motorola is expected to price its flagship Edge 40 lower than its predecessor

Recently, a thorough leak gave us a sneak peek at what Motorola has in store for the Edge 40 series. The Motorola Edge 40 Pro will be a new model, while the standard Motorola Edge 40 will be a global variant of China’s X40.

A new Dimensity 8020 chipset is anticipated to be included in the basic phone, making it a mid-ranger (compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-based Edge 40 Pro).

It will have 128/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage and 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM.

The Moto Edge 40 will have a slightly smaller 6.55″ panel than the Pro (6.67″) with a curved AMOLED screen.

It will be an 8-bit panel with a high refresh rate of 144Hz (vs. 165Hz, 10-bit on the Pro).

A 50MP main module (with OIS) and a 13MP ultra-wide camera are expected to be included in the camera setup (as opposed to 50+50+12MP on the Pro, which also has a 2x zoom lens).

A 32MP sensor with a lower resolution will be used for the front-facing camera.

The base 8/128GB Moto Edge 40 will cost $650 (₱35,386), according to unconfirmed information. The top-tier Edge 40 Pro is priced at $980 (₱53,351). (according to SnoopyTech). In contrast, at launch, the Edge 30 and Edge 30 Pro cost $500 and $850 (around ₱27k-₱46k).
