realme C53 Unboxing: Be stylish without splurging

We are treated with a solid smartphone device offering impressive features such as double the storage, quality photos, and more for a price you wouldn’t expect to reach even the bare minimum from two years ago.

We described the impressive realme C55– the budget charmer- the go-to device for style and daily driving.

Now, if you are looking for an even more affordable smartphone from realme, look no further than the new #realmeC53, a device designed for people seeking to spend way less than usual but still want a fresh, innovative, and fun phone. This is your bet. If you want a modest phone from the incredibly popular #realmeCSeries then this is for you.

Opening the box

The realme C53 is housed in a standard yellow box packaging that’s been the trademark of most realme devices. It’s minimalistic and modern. All the necessary information, such as the fast 33W SUPERVOOC Charge, 50 MP primary shooter, a standard 5,000mAh battery, a 6.74-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate, and a mysterious ‘powerful octa-core chipset are everything you need to know right now since this is only a first impression / unboxing article.

Opening the box isn’t your usual two-parts sandwiched together mechanism. The outer cover is a sleeve for the goodies inside—a pretty odd but understandable choice.

Dare to leap, they said

As much as we want to leap like realme, getting the inner box to come out is just as easy as prying it. Opening it will give us a sim ejector pin, a tinted jelly case, and a Warranty and Safety Guide.

After setting the phone aside, separating the rest of the accessories is fragile cardboard; the 33W charging brick and Type-A to Type-C cord can be seen inside. And that’s everything inside besides the phone itself.

Like tears…in rain

We have the Champion Gold colorway, which accentuates the gorgeous shimmering effect on its rear that resembles raindrops passing through a prism – and that’s stylish and alluring at the same time.

The camera island took some inspiration from a well-known brand that uses a system other than Android: it houses two camera sensors and an LED flash, which makes up the three circular bumps. Gold accent tones encircle each spot, which is a nice touch.

The form factor is more rounded than last year’s boxy build quality. We are confident that the rear panel and frame are made from plastic, but that isn’t inherently bad. It is well-built with no gaps or reactions when pressed with a thumb.

The top part is clean, while the left side houses the sim tray, which can hold two SIM cards and a memory card simultaneously, which we wish we could see in many more models and, yes, even the flagship ones.

The right side has volume rockers and a power button, doubling as a fingerprint scanner. On the bottom, the 3.5mm headphone jack, Type-C port, and single loudspeaker can all be found here.

Tasteful notch, tasteful display

The realme C53 has a large 6.74-inch HD+ display with a fast 90Hz refresh rate. The screen resolution is 720p, but they used an excellent 720p panel since we had mistaken it for a 1080p one.

The bezels are decent; even the chin isn’t too big to become quite a distraction. The selfie camera created a notch that looks better than those short water drop notch variants. The gap is more similar to those of flagships from years ago.

The display is decent and colorful, perfect for media consumption. The realme UI here is very much stock Android, which is a real advantage because the CPU won’t be stressed due to the light customization the realme C53 has.

Extras

The realme C53 can charge from 0-100% in just 88 minutes, thanks to its 33W SUPERVOOC Charge feature. #ChargeLikeAChampion indeed!

We are super excited to reveal the realme C53 in its entirety, but we have to hold on with that as realme themselves invite you to stay tuned for the epic June 22 price announcement! For now, you can visit realme’s official Facebook page if you want to know more: https://www.facebook.com/realmePhilippines

That’s it for now; wait for our full review on the website and the official Unbox Diaries YouTube channel soon. We think that the realme C53 is a worthy consideration due to its form factor and value for money.
