HUAWEI’s smartphone market share in China grew by 76.1% in Q2 2023, tying with Xiaomi for fifth place
Oppo remained the top smartphone brand in China with a market share of 17.7%, followed by Vivo with 17.2% and Honor with 16.4%. Apple was in fourth place with 15.3%, and Xiaomi was in fifth place with 13.0%.
Huawei’s growth was driven by the release of its new P50 series of smartphones. The P50 series was well-received by consumers, and it helped to boost Huawei’s market share in China.
Xiaomi’s market share declined by 17.5% in Q2 2023. This was due to a number of factors, including the ongoing chip shortage and the release of new smartphones from other brands.

IDC, a market research firm, said that Huawei’s shipments grew by 76.1% in the second quarter of 2023. This was the fastest growth rate of any major smartphone maker in China.
Will Wong, a senior research manager at IDC, said that Huawei’s comeback is “a serious threat” to other smartphone makers. He said that Huawei is “continuously reclaiming its lost share” in the high-end smartphone market.
Huawei is now back in the top five smartphone makers in China. However, analysts believe that the company could climb even higher by the end of this year.
