Samsung allegedly making a 1-inch sensor, 432-megapixel camera

This lucky flagship smartphone may conquer the photography challenges in low-light conditions.

What’s the highest megapixel have you seen on a smartphone? 50? 100? Well, the current highest belongs to Samsung with its Galaxy S23 Ultra, boasting a 200-MP primary rear camera. That’s actually more than four times greater than the 48-MP on Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max.

But next year, we may see the record-breaker and this device is rumored to come from the South Korean tech giant too.

On Twitter, Revegnus hinted out that Samsung has set ISOCELL sensors for mass production in the latter half of 2024. There are three of them and one of those has a whopping 440MP! But that was unveiled in August.

On October 6, the tipster suggested that the company is preparing for a one-inch sensor with 432 MP for its “HW” series. This series is rumored with ISOCELL HW1 and HW2, each with key differences.

So, why 432 MP? One possible reason is the HexaPixel trademark filed by Samsung in 2022. This one suggested a camera capable of employing 36:1 pixel binning, which is equivalent to 432 MP.

Which is the lucky device then? Nothing is solid because of the timing. Samsung tends to launch its powerful Galaxy series at the start of the year.

Samsung debuted Galaxy S23 Ultra on February 1 this year. But in the old days, Samsung had a spot for the Galaxy Note series during the IFA season.

It may also mean that the new camera is coming to the Galaxy S25 Ultra for 2025.

But for now, you must keep your eye peeled with the upcoming Galaxy S24, rumored with Exynos chipset and titanium body.
