World’s fastest internet is in China – send 150 films in 1 second!

China has the world’s fastest internet that clocks at 1.2 terabits per second.

Browsing, downloading, and streaming need an excellent internet connection. But if there are multiple devices connected to the same router, you need a lot of bandwidth for them.

In China, an internet connection is found incredibly fast – so fast that it’s like reaching for the stars. This is a network developed by individuals from Tsinghua University, China Mobile, HUAWEI Technologies, and Cernet Corporation.

The network spanned more than 3,000 kilometers and linked Beijing, Wuhan, and Guangzhou. The extensive optical fiber cabling system has broken records with 1.2 terabits per second of clocking speed.

In the Philippines, Globe offers up to 1.5 gigabits per second for consumers while PLDT offers up to 1Gbps. That’s nothing compared to the groundbreaking project in China.

According to a report, the 1Tbps internet speed is equal to sending 150 HD movies per second – three times more than a rival in the US and is two years ahead of industry predictions.

However, downloading media content on the web is not the only purpose of the project. A speed of 1Tbps can enable more advanced technologies in cities, including electric vehicles and industrial 5G. These tech exchange data rapidly at large volumes that demand out-of-this-world internet speeds.

As of writing, there’s no confirmation if the project will become mainstream in those areas or if it will be deployed in more places in China. The FITI project is being led by Wu Jianping of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
