Globe Telecom has made significant strides in expanding its 5G network, connecting 716 new sites in the first nine months of 2023. This rapid growth has propelled its 5G outdoor coverage to 97.67% in the National Capital Region and 92.06% in key cities of Visayas and Mindanao.
The network’s expansion is evident in the growing number of 5G devices connecting to Globe. In September 2023 alone, 5.2 million 5G devices connected to the network, signifying increasing adoption among Filipinos.
Globe’s 5G influence extends beyond the Philippines, with partnerships now established with 156 carriers in 82 destinations. This allows Globe customers to experience high-speed 5G services globally and positions the Philippines as a prominent player in the 5G arena.
Globe’s 5G roaming coverage already extends to countries such as Guatemala, South Africa, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Laos, Seychelles, India, Peru, Aland Islands, Crete, Croatia, and Romania. Inbound roamers visiting the Philippines can also benefit from the company’s strengthened 5G infrastructure.
“With the robust expansion of our 5G network, we are not just enhancing connectivity; we are shaping a future where every Filipino is empowered with global, cutting-edge communication capabilities,” said Beck Eclipse, Globe’s Chief Customer Experience Officer.
Globe’s commitment to network expansion and enhancement aligns with its dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The company’s efforts contribute particularly to SDG No. 9, which promotes innovation and infrastructure as essential drivers of economic growth and development.
Through its 5G network, Globe is setting the stage for a new era of digital empowerment with faster data transfer rates, wider coverage, and more stable connections. This also showcases its commitment to building a globally connected community that is future-ready.
