Apple granted patent for improved foldable display technology

Apple has been granted a patent for a new technology that aims to eliminate the crease often seen in foldable displays. This innovation involves thinning the display at the folding point using a chemical process, resulting in a smoother surface.

Foldable device patent

The patent describes a transparent layer placed over the display to counteract any grooves that may form. This layer might feature an elongated recess that aligns with the fold. To further enhance durability, a liquid polymer is deposited in the thinned area and then cured using techniques like UV light or heat.

Interestingly, the patent suggests modifications to the glass composition itself. Replacing sodium with potassium could create a more resilient surface, better equipped to handle scratches and wear.

This patent fuels speculation about Apple’s potential entry into the foldable device market. Could we see a foldable iPhone, iPad, or even a MacBook in the near future? While details remain under wraps, this development hints at exciting possibilities for Apple’s future product lines. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated on any further advancements.
