AMD’s fresh offerings promise unparalleled performance and exclusive AI features.
AMD just unveiled new Ryzen processors with “Zen 5” potential at Computex 2024. Meet the high-performance and gaming top-notcher Ryzen 9000 and the AI specialist Ryzen 300 for mobile.
AMD Ryzen 9000
The new AMD Ryzen 9000 series features the Zen 5 architecture, theoretically better than its predecessor powered by Zen 4. There are four models in the new series with the top-tier having a whooping boosted clock speed of up to 5.7 GHz.
Model | Cores/Threads | Base/Boost Frequency | Total Cache | TDP |
Ryzen 9 9950X | 16 / 32 | 5.7 GHz / 4.3 GHz | 80 MB | 170 W |
Ryzen 9 9900X | 12 / 24 | 5.6 GHz / 4.4 GHz | 76 MB | 120 W |
Ryzen 7 9700X | 8 / 16 | 5.5 GHz / 3.8 GHz | 40 MB | 65 W |
Ryzen 5 9600X | 6 / 12 | 5.4 GHz / 3.9 GHz | 38 MB | 65 W |
These Ryzen 9000 processors support PCIe 5.0, DDR5, USB 4, and Wi-Fi 7. This series is 16% better on the IPS or instructions per clock compared to the previous generation.
But what makes these chipsets better than their predecessors? The new ones have more kick in gaming and overall raw performance on desktops. They are designed with improved accuracy and latency performance for stable frame rates and smooth gaming experience.
AMD also tailored the Ryzen 9000 to handle a more demanding task: editing. Users should be able to use these processors for 3D modeling and animation designs. The company claims it’s the fastest consumer desktop CPU.
Ryzen AI 300 Series
The latest AMD offer for ultra-thin laptops is the AI-centric Ryzen 300 with up to 12 high-performance cores based on Zen 5 as well. Each model in this series comes with a dedicated AI engine built on the new AMD XDNA 2 architecture.
Model | Cores/Threads | Base/Boosted Frequency | Total Cache | GPU | cTDP | NPU |
Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 | 12 / 24 | 5.1 GHz / 2.0 GHz | 36 MB | Radeon 890M | 15-54 W | 50 TOPs |
Ryzen AI 9 365 | 10 / 20 | 5.0 GHz / 2.0 GHz | 34 MB | Radeon 880M | 15-54 W | 50 TOPs |
With 50 TOPs, these mobile CPUs are compatible with Microsoft Copilot+ and they are likely powering many AI-focused laptops from Acer, ASUS, HP, and more.
But for those who aren’t aware, ultrabooks powered by these chipsets can dish out incredible performance that gaming and serious content creation are easy-peasy. Both Ryzen 9000 and Ryzen AI 300 processors are launching this July.
