Apple Music Is Going To Cost Students More

A lot of people have been receiving alerts, particularly those using iOS devices, about a price increase for Apple Music.

Apple Music is an audio and video streaming service, much like Youtube, but without ads. Apple Music is mainly a pro-artist platform, with a significant portion of their profits going to artists. This objective is partly the reason why it’s different from other music streaming services or apps like Spotify or Youtube premium.

It’s a paid streaming service that provides uninterrupted music which also has supported the likes of Billie Eilish, Lizzo, The Weekend, and Olivia Rodrigo.

The price increase will be felt in countries like the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and a number of Southeast Asian countries, India, South Africa, Israel, and Kenya. The price increase will be from USD1.49 to USD1.99. This translates to about a 25-peso increase for Philippines’ customers.

However, this implementation will not be felt in other countries. As to the reason why it’s only a selective price increase, Apple has not released a statement on the issue. The price will still remain the same for customers in the US, where the monthly subscription will be USD4.99 for college students.

The notification was mostly sent via e-mail, and no other alerts were sent through in-app. Most of the alerts were received by students.
