Annoying alerts and vibrations from the same app will no longer bother when Android 15 comes out.
Getting swarmed by notifications every day? Hassled by putting your phone on silent mode because of that? Say no more because Android 15 is offering a simpler way to handle the inconvenience.
The upcoming major Android version will feature Notification Cooldown. While it appears similar to Focus Mode, this new feature is designed to mitigate notification bombardment without you adjusting things here and there.
The Notification Cooldown literally applies cooldown between notifications. If someone is messaging you every second, the feature slowly lowers the volume and cuts down the vibrations from that app.
It’s a neat anti-annoying tool without forcing you to enable Focus Mode or Silent Mode on your device. However, it isn’t enabled by default so you have to toggle it to take effect and will only work during successive notifications from the same app.
Conversely, Focus Mode minimizes distractions so you can focus on the task at hand. It’s a modifiable feature that lets you select which apps should be paused.
When you try to open them, the mode will remind you that they are paused. Should any of those apps send notifications, they are automatically silent to prevent distractions.
Focus Mode is better against distractions and it even fits specific settings, such as libraries or meetings. Your phone is quiet in this mode.
Notification Cooldown is for daily scenarios, including talking to someone in person, going for a walk, driving your car, or doing household chores. Your phone is less “noisy” in this mode.
